What is lithotamne?

Lithotamne is a calcareous algae measuring about 2 cm, blue-purple in color when alive.

It has branches that become detached in adulthood. They are composed of approximately 95% of mineral matter.

The food lithotamne corresponds to the skeleton, mainly calcareous, of this alga very rich in trace elements (19 in total).

It can be found in permanently submerged areas all around the planet - particularly in the Atlantic, the North Sea, the English Channel, and the Mediterranean.
